embark2 is an on line forum set up to support anyone who has lost a partner by providing opportunities for them to access peer support and activities so they can start the process of rebuilding their life.

embark2 has been developed by widow/ers who understand what it means to lose someone close and how challenging it is to remake your life.

The aim is that embark2 will support members by offering a variety of activities, on a not for profit basis. Holidays, in particular, can be a very difficult prospect when you’ve lost your partner. Where trips were once a relaxing time that was planned and enjoyed together, now you are faced with the challenge of organising a holiday and perhaps even going away on your own for the first time.

The purpose of joining embark2 is to help, encourage and support you to go away with other widow/ers who are in a similar situation to yourself, understand what you are going through and just how hard it can be to holiday after losing your partner. Members of embark2 are often surprised by the support they have received and friendships they have made when joining a holiday after the loss of their partner.

Recent trips away have included holidays in Barcelona and Portugal, walking weekends and holidays in the Lake District, Yorkshire and Northumberland.
